National Pie Day is January 23, and Cabarrus County is an excellent destination to celebrate the occasion. In fact, in 2016, Concord landed in the 7th spot on this list of 10 Cities in America with the most bakeries per capita. Today, the destination is just as sweet!

DOUGH New York Style Bakery
DOUGH got its start at area farmer’s markets, and we sure are glad they became a staple in the Afton Village neighborhood. Also in Downtown Concord, The Sweet Life specializes in custom cakes for weddings, birthdays, and other special occasions. The local bakery offers a ton of cake/cupcake and cheesecake flavors as well as a variety of pie flavors from fruity options like apple, peach crumble, and strawberry to rich selections like bourbon pecan, NutterButter, and Coconut Cream.

Jim ‘N Nick’s may be known for smoky barbecue, but did you know they also offer homemade pies on their menu? Their selection includes Lemon Ice Box, Chocolate Cream, and a seasonal flavor served by the slice or as whole pies. When dessert rolls around, grab a quick photo before diving in.

Another barbecue joint that serves up something sweet alongside their smokey dishes is Jake’s. End your meal of Southern barbecue favorites with their chocolatey Mississippi Mud Pie or inquire about their other homemade pie offerings including Peanut Butter, Oreo, and Cherry.
